We eat peanut butter without thinking that one day, it might kill us. We trust in out food companies because generally, their business ethics dictate that they make sure their products are 100% safe.
So what exactly happened with the Peanut Corporation of America? Why did nine people have to die because of this travesty brought about by the greedy CEO who just didn’t care about poisoning his customers?
It first happened in 2008. Several buyers reported getting poisoned after eating peanut products. By the time the investigation was over, over 700 cases of salmonella poisoning. The CEO eventually received one of the harshest sentences in white-collar crime history.
